About IBHBOT

Independent. Credible. Standards-Driven.

The International Board of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Inc. (IBHBOT) is a professional certification and registry authority dedicated to advancing standards in hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diving medical disciplines.

Our Mission

IBHBOT exists to establish, maintain, and advance professional certification standards for individuals working in hyperbaric oxygen therapy and related operational environments. We are an independent certifying body — we do not provide training or instruction. Our role is to define what competency looks like, administer rigorous board examinations, and maintain a credible registry of certified professionals.

Our certification model is license-first and scope-aware. Every credential we issue is designed to supplement — not replace — the existing professional authority of the individuals who hold it. We recognize that hyperbaric and dive medicine intersects with a wide range of licensed disciplines, and our pathways are built to reflect that reality.

How We Operate

Core Principles

Independence

IBHBOT operates independently from training providers, ensuring our certification standards are free from commercial influence and focused solely on professional competency.

Scope-Awareness

Every certification pathway is built around defined scopes of practice, ensuring credentials align with the professional roles and existing licensure of those who hold them.

Accessibility

Our pathways are designed to serve a broad range of licensed healthcare professionals, from clinical hyperbaric technicians to offshore and remote medical personnel.

Accountability

Certification through IBHBOT reflects a commitment to ethical, safe, and accountable practice — standards we uphold through rigorous examination and ongoing registry maintenance.
